My Goodreads Reviews Part 55

Hello again with my new Goodreads reviews and books I want to share with you! The genres I’ve been reading lately are LGBTQ, M M romance, thriller, historical, horror, and sci-fi.

Frat Brats of Santa Barbara: Complete Series Bundle, The Exchange: After The Firm (The Firm Series Book 2), The Sins of Jack Branson: A Novel (Modern Myth Trilogy Book 1), Alaskan Thunder, 10 Things That Never Happened (Material World #1), The Bad Weather Friend, Between These Sheets, Your Lonely Nights Are Over, Kir’s Fury: Godeena Codex Book 2, When I See You Again

Gay. Sweet. Steamy. This is how the author, Hayden Hall, describes himself. Gay. Sweet. Steamy. This is how I describe his complete edition of Frat Brats of Santa Barbara MM romance series.

Apart from the fact that this series is gay, sweet, and steamy, all seven books have wonderfully described characters who are so alive that it hurts. You simply have to sympathize, empathize or identify yourself with them. But what strikes me most as the biggest surprise is the author’s fluent, easy to ready, rich vocabulary writing style. Hayden Hole is so eloquent that his way with words gives a special pleasure and experience in reading his stories.

The Firm is one more bestselling novel that has got its solid, or rather good, sequel. I just wish the last chapter of The Exchange ended with a more style, or bang. Or cliffhanger, or however you want to call it.

An intense and occasionally dramatic time travel to the era when being yourself and open about it was a crime. The Sins of Jack Branson characters are as real as they can be, or once were.

Likeable and enjoyable survival M M romance with entertaining characters and just enough adventure to keep you glued to its pages.

When you find a protagonist (most of the time) annoying and despite that you keep rooting for him and his affairs intrigue you, then the author must have done a good job! 10 Things That Never Happened is fun, relaxing and entertaining. It promises you an enjoyable reading time!

Well, hm, this is not a bad book, but I will have to pause reading Dean Koontz’s new books. I cannot explain what happened that I don’t feel the spark, eagerness, and suspense when reading Koontz anymore. Some kind of shift happened, either in Koontz’s latest writing or in my perception of it. I only know that I miss hunger I felt when reading his old books. I don’t have it anymore and I don’t feel fed after reading a new book written by one of my two favorite authors. Maybe taking a break is the best thing to do now because I don’t want to spoil the reading experience of new readers who became fans of Dean Koontz’s most recent books. I hope they appreciate them as much as I appreciate(d) Watchers, Strangers, Midnight, Cold Fire, Twilight, and many others.

What I like best in this steamy and easy-to-read mm romance story is its characters. Reese and Jay, two emotionally broken protagonists, who are so far from perfect, ideal, and flawless imaginary hunks and studs that they can be any of us with our own personal little demons and real-life issues. I applaud and thank the author for that.

I’m loving it! Besides following him on Twitter, Adam Sass was an unknown to me. I’ve never read anything from him, and now I’m glad that is over! Your Lonely Nights Are Over is entertaining YA LGBT horror that keeps you engaged, intrigued, and glued from its opening to its closing pages. A scary time well spent!

What an exciting and gripping space opera! The fans of Godeena will love its sequel, Kir’s Fury. I very much enjoyed it and I thank the author for an advance review copy which I have received at no cost and with no obligations toward the author. This is my honest review.

Is this Daryl Banner’s step into a literary fiction genre?! A remarkable life story about two boys growing into two teenagers, two young, middle-aged and eventually old men, destined two stay together despite all the obstacles and tests through time, is so much more than M M romance and gay love story. It is a beautiful piece of literary work that will take your breath away, make you gasp, and then take your breath away again. Thank you for this beauty, Daryl!

Happy reading!

BJ
